Understanding Different Types of Computer Malware
"Virus" is a catch-all term, but malware comes in many forms.
1. Virus
Code that attaches itself to legitimate programs and replicates when that program runs.2. Trojan Horse
Disguises itself as legitimate software (e.g., a free game) to trick you into installing it. Once inside, it creates a backdoor for hackers.3. Ransomware
Encrypts your files and demands payment (usually crypto) for the decryption key. WannaCry was a famous example.4. Spyware
Runs in the background, collecting data like keystrokes (keyloggers), passwords, and browsing habits.5. Adware
Bombards you with unwanted pop-up ads. Annoying, but usually less dangerous than others.6. Rootkit
Gives hackers administrative control over your system while hiding its presence from antivirus software.Stay Protected: Regular scans and safe browsing habits are your best defense.
